ABOUT

Eli Canter is a New York-based writer/director whose work spans clever, character-driven comedy and grounded human drama. Eli seeks to entertain and move audiences through specific, lived-in characters and striking visual storytelling.

His films have screened at the Woodstock Film Festival, the Newport Beach Film Festival, the Nashville Film Festival, and festivals across the country.

Eli graduated from Boston University in 2023 with a BS in Film & Television, where he was selected to direct the university's first ever full-length comedy TV pilot with a cast and crew of 80+ members. His senior thesis film Artboy won Best Picture, Screenplay, Cinematography, and Editing at the 2023 BU Redstone Film Festival, and went on to win the Grand Jury Prize for student films at IFF Boston. At 23, Eli directed his first nationally-aired commercial for broadcast TV.

His filmmaking process is inspired by his extensive background in the visual arts, including graphic design, illustration, drawing, and painting. When Eli isn't busy developing his first feature film and other projects, he's probably somewhere watching basketball.
